Maitland City Council welcomes all visitors to Maitland and works towards ensuring that all seven of our flagship events are accessible for everyone.

THE SITE

Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest will be held in Maitland Station Precinct, Church Street and the Rally Ground Maitland (off New England Highway)

The ground in the Station Precinct and Church Street is are relatively level with uneven pavers in some locations.

The Rally Ground is on stone, pebbles, dirt and grass and is mostly not level.

TOILETS

Accessible toilets will be hired in for the duration of the event.

The Accessible toilets will be located in the Station Precinct and within section one of the Rally Ground.

CAR PARKS

Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest Accessibility Parking will be located in the car park of The Grand Junction Hotel (88 Church St, Maitland NSW 2320).

The driveway entrance of the car park is uneven in some places, however there are accessible pathways to access the site.

Cars will be required to present their mobility parking permit to traffic control to be allowed access through the road closure at Allan Walsh Drive.

If you do not wish to utilise this car park, there are a range of parks throughout Central Maitland with accessibility parking available, please see below the recommended parks:

  • Maitland Riverside Car Park
  • Elgin Street Car Park
  • Albion Street Car Park
  • Sempil Street Car Park
  • Ken Tubman Drive (2nd level car park only)
  • Maitland Park

A temporary 5 minute drop off zone will be located in Athel D’Ombrain Drive.

THE MAITLAND INCLUDES YOU ACCESSIBILITY TENT

 

The Accessibility Tent provides a safe and welcoming space for people with disabilities, their families and carers at events. Inside the tent there are a range of items for ‘Free Hire’ such as vision aids, communication cards, sensory tools and ‘sensory tents’ designed specifically for kids.

The Accessibility Tent is a collaborative initiative between Council, Ability Links NSW and local volunteers. It is staffed by people who understand the value of inclusion and play a role in raising awareness amongst the broader community of the needs and challenges faced by people with disability, their families, friends and carers.
