GREEN STEAM INITIATIVE
Forming part of Maitland City Council’s annual Community Grants Program, Green Steam is an initiative to promote projects that connect the community with improving our environment.
$2 from every ticket sold will help support local environmental recovery programs, renewable energy projects and greening initiatives that enhance health, wellbeing and quality of life.

In 2019, Maitland Public School was one of the successful applicants to receive funding under our Green Steam initiative.
Students have been putting the money to great use by building and creating gardens in the school grounds.
It has is also creating opportunity for students in the garden club to learn about growing and maintaining plants, with a focus on environmental and sustainable topics.
In 2019, we were also able to award funding to Earthcare Park Landcare in Tenambit to support planting and re-vegetation initiatives.
For Steamfest 2024, we will be accepting expressions of interest from non-profit organisations seeking investment for environmental recovery programs, renewable energy projects or simply support for initiatives that improve the natural environment of the Hunter Region.
More information and forms will be available closer to the event.
