In 2010 Hunter Valley Steamfest will celebrate its 25th anniversary. A special program is being developed, which will include expanded rail journeys, new family based activities, the introduction of a themed journey of motive power through the ages on the Steamfest Rally Ground and a staged area for an expanded entertainment program. 
Steamfest Silver Anniversary Ball in the Mall
To celebrate the past 25 years of Steamfest a Silver Anniversary Ball will be held on the 10th April in the Maitland Heritage Mall, High Street Maitland.
Enjoy a wonderful atmosphere, great company and fantastic music!
When: Music and dancing from 8pm - 2am. Meal served at approximately 9pm
Cost: Tickets are $75 each, including live entertainment on two stages and a two-course buffet meal
No BYO, No Eskies: Ball in the Mall is fully licensed with a bar serving wine, beer, mixed and soft drinks throughout the evening

Kids T-Shirt Design Competition
To celebrate 25 years of Steamfest, a special Kids T-Shirt Design Competition is being held. The competition is open to all primary schools students from the Hunter Region and is a great opportunity for students to show-off their creative flair and love for steam, trains and one of the Hunter’s best loved events. The winning design will feature on the Steamfest Souvenir Kids T-Shirt range, which will go on sale over the Steamfest weekend of 17th & 18th April. Trainspotting – The Powerhouse Museum Photo Competition
In celebration of the 25 years of Steamfest Dr Dawn Casey, Director of the Powerhouse Museum has launched an international photographic competition for 2010 - Trainspotting.
Enthusiasts are able to share their passion for trains and railways by entering a photograph they have taken capturing railway infrastructure or locomotives powered by steam, diesel or electricity.
The overall Trainspotting prize winner will be awarded AUD$5,000 whilst category winners in six competition categories will receive AUD$2,000. All winners will be announced over the Hunter Valley Steamfest weekend with their photographs displayed at the event and at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

Maitland & District Historical Society Inc - Historical Walking Tour of Central Maitland
The Maitland & District Historical Society will be involved in the special Steamfest anniversary running insightful guided Historical Walking Tours over the event weekend. Each walk is open to 30 participants and has a duration of 90 minutes, taking in the key sites and notable history within the Maitland City Centre area.
Cost: $6 including walking tour and printed guide
