Powerhouse Museum Activities

The powerhouse museum will be bringing along their most impressive museum displays for exhibition at Hunter Valley Steamfest for all to see.  Also featuring a speaker program which will run on both Saturday and Sunday providing visitors with a personal insight into the history of steam.

Displays

In 2012 the Powerhouse marquee will feature an array of unusual, fascinating and fun objects. A selection of seven images from the Powerhouse Museum’s 2011 trainspotting competition will also be on display. Click here to find out more.

Cogs

Cogs, the problem solving robot, had such fun last year and will be returning to the Hunter Valley Steamfest on the 28th-29th April to appear at the Powerhouse Museum marquee. Cogs will entertain children and adults with a fascinating show called 'Steam Engine Cogs'. Children will become parts of a steam engine as we attempt to power Cogs- but don’t go too fast or else Cogs might power down! Also kids best be on the look out for Cogs when he goes out for a walk in the Rally Ground. Click here to find out more.

Mystery Object

Railway enthusiasts and would be sleuths will have the opportunity of identifying a rail object to win a special prize.
To win, identify what the object is and how it was used, and lodge your entry at the Powerhouse Museum’s marquee during Steamfest on Saturday 28th April and prior to 2.15pm on Sunday 29th April.

Merchandise

A range of merchandise will be available to be purchased on the day in the marquee including: railway specialized books and also kids show bags that contain a range of merchandise and activity sheets. Click here to find out more.
